Should You Upgrade to Club Level at an All-Inclusive Resort?

I get asked this all the time: is Club Level really worth it? And like so many things in travel, the answer is, it depends. The value of upgrading to Club Level can vary based on what’s included, your personal travel style, and how much time you’ll actually spend at the resort. In this post, I’ll walk you through the 3 key factors to consider when deciding whether the upgrade is worth it for you.

  1. What Exclusive Areas Do You Get with Club Level Access?

This is usually the number one factor I consider when deciding whether to book a Club Level room. If the resort offers exclusive access to a Club-only pool, beach area, lounge, or restaurant, I’m much more likely to upgrade. These private spaces not only give you more variety during your stay, but they often come with elevated service - think faster drink refills and quieter, more personalized experiences.

Little perks like private check-in at the lounge instead of waiting at the main desk also add a layer of ease and luxury that sets the tone for the entire trip. If having access to exclusive areas feels aligned with how you like to travel, that alone can make the Club Level upgrade worth it.

2. Are Club Level Rooms and Accommodations Really Better?

At some resorts, Club Level rooms offer a completely different experience than standard rooms. They might feature upgraded designs, soaking tubs, enhanced minibar selections, luxury bath amenities, or even access to a personal concierge. In these cases, the upgrade can significantly elevate your stay.

At other resorts, however, the Club Level room may be identical to a standard room in layout and amenities - just located in a specific area of the property. This is an important detail to look into when deciding if the Club Level upgrade is truly worth it for your trip.

3. Is Club Level Worth It Based on Your Travel Style and Time at the Resort?

Even the most luxurious Club Level perks might not be worth it if you won’t be around to enjoy them. A resort could offer exclusive amenities and top-tier accommodations, but if your itinerary is packed with off-site excursions and day trips, you may not get enough value from the upgrade.

When deciding whether to go for Club Level, think realistically about how much time you'll actually spend at the resort - and how likely you are to take full advantage of those added perks.

So, is Club Level worth it? It really depends on what matters most to you. If you love the idea of exclusive spaces, upgraded amenities, and plan to spend plenty of time enjoying the resort, the upgrade can absolutely elevate your stay. But if your trip is packed with off-site adventures, you may find those perks go unused. Take a moment to think about your travel style, priorities, and budget - and you’ll know if the upgrade is right for you. Still unsure? Feel free to reach out or drop a comment - I’m always happy to help you make the most of your trip. Until next time, safe travels!
